Multiple opportunities for stakeholder input are provided throughout the Facilities Master Planning process. 

Principal Survey

Early in the FMP process (January 2020), a survey was sent to all Encinitas Union School District Principals. The survey focused on the functionality of existing facilities and asked each Principal to provide their top priorities for long-term improvements at their site.

Teacher Survey

Teachers across all school sites were asked to participate in an online survey in early February 2020. The questions focused on the functionality of their respective existing school facilities, primarily around the following topics:

  • Enhancing the teaching and learning experience
  • Important adjacencies
  • Spaces for gathering, social interaction, reflection, and belonging
  • Access to media and technology
  • Safety and security of your campus
  • Professional development at your school
  • Spaces requiring the greatest amount of improvement at your school

Administrative Staff & Librarian Survey

Administrative Staff across all school sites and the District Office, as well as school site Librarians, were asked to participate in an online survey in early February 2020. The questions focused on the functionality of their respective existing work environments. Opportunities for additional feedback in an open-ended format were provided to allow staff to elaborate on specific concerns and/or add items that were not covered by multiple choice options.

Student Survey

An online survey was distributed to students in 4th-6th grades in April 2020.

An online survey was distributed to students in 4th-6th grades in early April 2020.  The survey focused on the existing functionality of their learning spaces, both indoors and outdoors.  Students were also asked to select what they would change about their school from a series of options.

Parent Survey

An online survey was distributed to EUSD parents in late April 2020. The survey focused on what existing spaces or issues require the greatest amount of improvement or enhancement. Opportunities for additional feedback in an open-ended format were provided to expand on specific concerns and/or to add items that were not covered by multiple choice options.

When you visit campus, what is your purpose?

On a scale of 1-5, how important is incorporating sustainable design principles and the District’s Green Initiatives in any improvements to the school (e.g. maximized energy efficiency, solar, stormwater treatment on display for the students, reduced water use)?
