Background

A Message from Superintendent, Dr. Nellie Meyer:

Mt. Diablo Unified School District has been serving students for nearly seventy years. Understanding the status and condition of our school facilities is essential to ensuring that ongoing maintenance and future modernizations or new construction are formulated to meet the long-term needs of our students, teachers, administrators, parents, and community. By developing a comprehensive, long-range Facility Master Plan, we create a critical tool to help us with this understanding.

The important work of developing our Facility Master Plan is well underway, and allows us to do three things:

  • Set goals and expectations for the plan
  • Allocate available resources as needs are prioritized
  • Identify potential resources and their allocations

We are fortunate to have an exceptional advisory committee in place to lead the work—a group which includes teachers, administrators, parents, community leaders, and business leaders with expertise in finance, facility management, and public works. Their responsibilities include the gathering and analysis of data, developing reports and recommendations for our board, and creating opportunities for community input and extensive stakeholder engagement. For those in the greater community, we will also have expanded opportunities to give input and share ideas.

I thank our advisory committee for the hard work completed thus far, and commend their dedication to a project that will help us develop classrooms, schools, and campuses truly ready for a global, 21st-century teaching and learning experience.

Mt. Diablo USD Graduate Profile

MDUSD is committed to helping all students develop strong academic knowledge and skills. The MDUSD Graduate Profile was created by a diverse group of district, site, and community members to provide a common understanding of those skills that will help students graduate college and career ready. It is the goal of MDUSD that every student master these skills by the time they graduate from the district. For more information, go to Graduate Profile.

Mt. Diablo USD has a growing base of educational and community partnerships: Andeavor, Diablo Valley College, CSU East Bay, Classroom Champions, Bike Concord, Street Smarts, and many more. “Classroom Champions is an organization that pairs Olympic athletes with elementary and middle school classes to help develop social emotional learning awareness through a digital curriculum and live virtual ‘hangouts’ with (their) classrooms.” To learn more, see Classroom Champions.
