Background

The Cupertino Union School District (CUSD or District) sits within the Silicon Valley region of San Francisco’s southern Bay Area. Nestled against the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Cupertino spreads easterly between the communities of Sunnyvale, San Jose, Saratoga, Los Altos, and Santa Clara.

CUSD is the largest elementary school district in northern California, serving approximately 17,000 students across its 19 elementary schools, one K-8 school, and five middle schools throughout the city of Cupertino, and portions of its neighboring communities. The District is among the top schools in the state on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress testing in Math and English Language Arts, exemplifying their robust and vibrant educational communities.

The mission of Cupertino USD is to provide a child-centered environment that cultivates character, fosters academic excellence, and embraces diversity. District families, communities, and staff join as partners to develop creative, exemplary learners with the skills and enthusiasm to contribute to a constantly changing global society.
